The Star Wars Super Collector's Wish Book Review

About the Book: Over 24,000 items with checklist-style listings, over 12,000 color photos, and accurate estimated values make this collector s guide a must-have for everybody who has ever owned merchandise produced for the Star Wars saga or who is selling or buying it now. Items have been collected from over 50 countries and compiled together into this impressive tome, the latest version of the longest running Star Wars identification guide series ever in print. This new edition covers the range from Advertising and Dart Boards to Squeaky Toys and Window Clings, everything, that is, except toys a category so large it will now comprise its own book. From the 1976 pre-release movie paperback through the latest Clone Wars kitchenware, thirty-five years of exciting and obscure Star Wars collectibles are archived here for you to discover, marvel over, and enjoy.

Our Take: Star Wars is one of the most collected franchises in history.  Its without a doubt the most popular film franchise, as well.  Thousands of fans have amassed gigantic collections of product from comics to toys, keychains, statues and dozens of other collectibles.  This particular collectible guide, published by Shiffer books, is a new frontier in record keeping.  Any serious collector knows that after awhile you begin to lose sight of not only what you have in your collection, but also what all is out there.  When you have product like Star Wars that has been licensed for decades internationally its nearly impossible to keep track of it, unless you're completely obsessive!  The Star Wars Super Collector's Wish Book gives you insight on thousands of products with a TON of great full color images.  I learned SO much about what is out there that I had no idea.  This book features everything you can imagine from the original trilogy up to the prequels...from books, keychains, cups, pins, electronics and patches to dozens of other items.   This one is absolutely priceless to anyone looking to get into collecting or even the most seasoned of collectors!  We absolutely love it.

FAKK 2 Deluxe Edition Art Book Review

About the Book: This hardcover deluxe art book is a companion piece to the Heavy Metal FAKK 2 movie.

Our Take: This week we're taking a look back at some of the great Heavy Metal book releases.  These are all still available for sale on the official Heavy Metal website.  This deluxe artbook is a high-quality hardcover book with a dust jacket that features beautiful artwork by the great Simon Bisley.   I was first introduced to the Biz's artwork when he did the Grendel: War Child covers for Dark Horse back in the early 1990s and I've been a huge fan ever since.  This art book provides fans of the Heavy Metal 2000 a great look at behind the scenes development artwork, along with some amazing paintings and even a tear-out black and white Bisley art piece!  The book also features some great reference pics that were taken of the legendary Julie Strain, as she models the FAKK costume!

Hot Shots and High Spots: George Napolitano's Amazing Pictorial History of Wrestling's Greatest Stars Book Review
About the Book: Bringing the best of professional wrestling into focus, from the glare of the spotlights to rare, behind-the-scenes candid photos, George Napolitano has created the most far-reaching and beautiful visual history of its kind. For five decades he has been ringside, documenting wrestling’s biggest main events, photographing its most famous—and infamous—stars. His images have captured the blood, sweat, and tears spilled in the squared circle. In the process, they have become as iconic as the men and women in them. Covering those who have made professional wrestling one of America’s great passions and pastimes—Bruno Sammartino and Classy Freddie Blassie, Gorilla Monsoon battling Muhammad Ali, Andre the Giant and Mil Mascaras thrilling crowds all over North America, and Cyndi Lauper and Captain Lou Albano bringing wrestling to MTV—this chronicle shows it all. For the fans of the nWo or ECW’s hardcore revolution, those who love the attitudes of DX, The Rock, and Stone Cold Steve Austin, and those who still tune in every Monday night for Cena, Triple H, and Orton, this compilation is the ultimate pictorial of the glories and humiliations of the wrestling world.
Our Take:  Sigh..I love wrestling.  I won't admit that to most people, but hey why not put it out there on the net, right?  I grew up in the era of Hulkamania, so  I'm definately addicted to the older-era of the sport.  I really got back into it in the late 1990s, with the WCW/NWO era.

The author/photographer George Napolitano chronicles his life as a wrestling fanboy.  He has captured some of the most amazing talents in the business.  This book serves as a photo album that chronicles his life meeting some of the most amazing personalities out there.  From the classics like Hogan and Andre to the Bushwackers and Sting.   This is a really fun book to look through for any fan and a great chronicle of the history of the biz.
