Click the above title to read more...

About the Book: Kick-Ass, the bestselling comic book series by Mark Millar (writer of the graphic novel Wanted, which became a smash-hit movie) and artist John Romita Jr., is now an eagerly awaited film, and this is the essential companion book!

What would happen if you tried to be a superhero? What would happen when an ordinary kid in a spandex costume comes face-to-face with the criminal underworld? Comic book fan and high school student Dave Lizewski, aka the self-styled vigilante Kick-Ass, is about to find out... and it’s going to get really, really violent!

Kick-Ass: Creating the Comic, Making the Movie features creator Mark Millar's unique commentary on the conversion of his bestselling comic to the big screen, with hundreds of movie photos! Adults only

Our Take: If you read comic books and you're up on the buzz, then you've heard of Kick-Ass.   Its a creator-owned comic book that was put out under the Marvel 'Icon' imprint.  It features the writing of Mark Millar and the art of the great John Romita, Jr.  The basic idea behind the comic is what would happen if regular people, with no super powers, became heroes.  The result is a mix of mania and violence that takes the reader on a great ride.  The book had an amazing amount of attitude.  I remember one of the first ads I saw for the book had the tagline "Fuck Crime".

This book 'Creating the Comic, Making the Movie' delves into the behind the scenes details of what has happened in this new franchise.  I didn't realize this, but Kick-Ass was almost immediately being worked on as a feature film.   This book is ultra-detailed, far more than I figured it'd be.  These types of books are usually little fluff pieces, but this is a 175 page jam-packed look into the comic and film.  It features everything from commentary from writer Mark Millar to story boards from the film and sketches from John Romita, Jr.

I wouldn't normally feature a movie companion book, but this one goes above and beyond the norm.  If you're a fan of Kick-Ass, you'll need this one.  If you're not into it yet, pick this one up and see why you should be!
